Programming of this timer is not particularly intuitive, it should be a bit easier and less time consuming. But good price and it does the job.

Needlessly difficult to program
Spent a lot of time getting this to do what I wanted. Needlessly complex instructions, no "how to" video, no "troubleshooting" suggestions. After one year of use, it will not follow program changes despite following reset instructions explicitly. Ergonomic FAIL. Taking my business elsewhere.

After using this product for a year straight for a set of lights, I am happy to say I absolutely adore this set of timers. Its a little tough to get the hang of at first, but thankfully the instructions are thorough, and there are so many options for customizing the on/off pattern of these timers. The daylight savings button is also super useful! Very happy not only with the durability but the immense customization available. I have used these for plant lights, aquarium lights, aquarium filters, and much more with little issue, so I have no problem recommending them to others who really wanna fine tune their scheduled timers!! you cant really go wrong with these. :D

Happy with purchase
I bought 4 of these units two years ago to control Halloween & Christmas decorations. I've seen found many other uses for them around the house. They stand the test of time and they're easy to customize.

Accurate timer but programming leaves a lot to be desired

This replaced an analog timer that had continual accuracy problems of losing minutes each day and it solved that problem. I also like the number of time setting options and the random function. Like others have said, it is strange that changing a timer setting doesn’t take effect until the next day. There must have been some sort of problem with crossing dates the mfg could not figure out. The easiest way I’ve found to change the on/off time is to wait until it turns off for the last setting of the day, make your changes, then go to bed :) Other than this annoyance, I’m happy with the purchase but would look harder to see if other timers exist that will take the new on/off settings without having to wait a day.

When you had completed your programming, make sure you first plug the timer into an AC outlet along with the device you want to control, then press the Manual key until it reads Auto. The red light will indicate the programming is running.

Great timer to control dual appliances

I bought this timer to control the operation of an outdoor fountain with LED lights. One outlet supplies power to the fountain’s pump and the other turns on the LED lights. This is exactly what I was looking for. There are all kinds of programming options. Programming the device to start/stop on a morning/night daily schedule was fairly easy. This is an INDOOR TIMER, but I use it outside covered by a fake rock to protect it from the elements. So far, it’s worked without any problems.

I had no trouble programming the timer. I already had a similar timer of another brand. i bought these timers to replace mechanical clock timers that I use for security. The mechanical timers have pins that must be pulled out or pushed in for 15 minute intervals. The pins can easily be moved and cause timer to be set wrong. These new digital timers have easily programmable times for on and off. The timer has two 120 v. outlets that turn on when the timer is ON. Can control 2 devices at once if needed. I think there are 10 separate programs for ON and OFF. Each program can be set for its own on and off times and days of the week. I have only tried the timers to see if I can program them like I need. I have not used them for security yet. There is a feature of the timers that I really like. Between 6PM and 6AM there is a random feature that will turn the timer output on at various times for variable lengths of time from 10 to 30 minutes. This is perfect for turning lights and radios or other appliances on to simulate activity in the house when nobody is home. This feature is what I needed to turn lamps on while away on vacation.

Reliable Hardware; Annoying to Program

I have bought four of these for use on my planted vivariums to control the lighting. They are inexpensive and an overall quality product. The issue that potential buyers should know is that the process to set them seems like it was designed by a crazy person. There’s essentially no way you could figure out how to set this just by messing around with it, you do need the instructions - so if you lose them and need to change something, it’ll be frustrating. It is is set to military time by default, but if you keep clicking through you can end up scrolling past 24:00, which isn’t how military time works (I got up to 53:00, which would be.. 5am two days from now? Or something? Perhaps I had activated a feature that I didn’t know existed and the numbers meant something else?). In any case, it’s a decent little timer. And you can set different on and off times for different days of the week. But the excess functionality comes at the cost of it being preposterously obnoxious to use. If you’re used to messing around with random budget electronics from Amazon it’s not so bad (at least the instructions are in English), but I wouldn’t buy this for Grandma.

Tips if you think not working

Here are a couple of tips. 1. I had one device that seemed completely dead even after charging overnight. It turned out that after resetting it worked fine. 2. Even though I followed the programming instructions exactly, there was one device that would not turn on. It turns out that there are two AUTO functions, auto on and auto off. After you program so your light is to be on during a certain period click the MANUAL button to cycle through AUTO OFF and AUTO ON so light is on during the desired time. Test it during the time the light should be on.
